When the wind no longer fans
your fancy flames,
rust will rule your world behind
locks and chains.

“You people set aside a day just to celebrate trees?”
Absolutely! See what happens when trees don’t get hugged?
“Well, we all do the best we can with what we got to work with.”
Well-hugged trees are standout creatures, as you can plainly see.
“If you think we take trees for granted, you’re crane wrong.”
On behalf of my friends and me²
I thank you for the hugz!

U CRANE
Crane U. flocks!
Sandhill Cranes running laps for fowl play
Grazing Crane on Friday the 13th
Lesser Cranes they may be, but they venture closer to the road
than their larger look-a-likes, the Greater Sandhill Cranes.
Superstitions abound on this day,
but only the fool-hearty fly away.
“Stand your ground!”

Sandhill Cranes don’t have to wait for Spring to arrive.
Cranes come to farm the fields of yesterday’s leftovers.
While it may not look like enough to feed the multitudes,
they come back every year to get their fill of golden grains.
Soft landings make for easy pickings, and there’s always room to roam.

Spring delayed this year, because Winter loves The Blues.
The River only reflects The Blues, because it is all wet.
The Windmill stands like the Tin Man, and heartlessly defies The Blues.
Cranes fly off into the wild blues yonder, and no one questions why.
Read the writing on The Wall of Blues, folks.
Stay in line and you’ll be fine. Why?
Because, Green said so.
