When God Takes A Child

What does it

mean to be

a Christian

when the God you know and love

takes a child you know and love?

When He takes

your child

your baby

your most

beloved

belonging?

✟    ✟    ✟

It means

your child

your baby

— made it to Heaven before you did —

It means – this moment – this second

your child

your baby

rests in the arms

of our Lord

The infant of infinity will forget that Time was,

but your child will always remember you!

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son,

that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish,

but have everlasting life.”

John 3:16

Prey Of Fate

I look for a sign faithfully,

and wonder about my destiny.

Refusing to let fate choose for me,

I make each choice individually.

.

Questioning my purpose, I ask Thee,

is it your will or mine? Respectfully,

can we compromise then? Openly?

I pray for answers with humility.

I went on this path one day

off the straight and narrow way

looking to find the unknown

unafraid to be alone

A skip in my stride

my smile a mile wide

passion perspiring inside

.

Suddenly, there’s a shadow

beside my own. “It can’t be so!”

No one came with me, I know

Nobody else wished to go

Who could it be then?

How shall I begin?

Where did it happen and when?

About My Father’s Business

Keith and Dad

The biggest man I know

is not really big at all

He’s always near to lend an ear

or to catch me when I fall

.

The wisest man I know

doesn’t claim to know it all

Though it’s plainly clear my father dear

is willing to heed the call

.

The greatest man I know

didn’t know he’d grown a tree

Although he knew just what to do

to bring out the best in me

The Oath Of Optimism

*

To remain hopefully optimistic when the apocalyptic future

of our transitory planet is certain and inevitable.

*

To practice the art of optimism even when proven wrong,

over and over again, seventy times seven.

*

To remain steadfast and justifiably optimistic in our belief:

Compassion and mercy will always exist in the face

of surrounding doubt and deep despair.

*

To continue to sustain our reasonable optimism faithfully,

for the joy and peace that surpasses all understanding is

at once transcendent, immanent, and eternal; imagining

it to be, and acting as if this sacred right simultaneously

belongs to members and spirits alike, who work toward that

which serves the most noble, honorable, and just cause.

*

To remain divinely optimistic that we are who we are,

and what will be will be; that just as we are we come,

and we will keep on becoming infinitely better, more

perfect, pure and beautiful on the way of truth, as we

move ever closer to the glorious Light Of God.

Desire transcends illusion

Routine practices its performance consistently

Habit magistrates a majestic performance

Ignorance ordains the boring dullness

Laziness condemns facilitating guilt

Anxiety inevitably germinates illness

Death releases incomprehensible timelessness

Space matters alter infinity

Containment impregnates the united singularity

Prisms folate into spectral curiosities

Intelligence efficiently wings its constellatory pluralities

Compassion breathes, exhaling creativity

Order rhythmically distributes equality

Relativity affects the terrific stabilizer

Drama evolves the essential formalities

Mercy justifies our primary abilities

Grace fulfills the desire completely

Saturday’s Mourning In Glory

.

Entombed in the thickest of forests He lay,

donning a shroud of cool, deadened leaves.

Limbs that once held the glorious weight of the world

lie scattered about the sacred grounds.

Branches that once shouldered the burden of the blame

had broken from the main, and still the vines held fast.

Everything for which He stood — a scheme inside a dream

His crowning achievement — a sacrificial theme

‘Twas all laid to rest beside the petrifying flesh of his ancestors.

.

Many a number of trees in these woods had been borne of his seed.

Year after year, they continued to fill the avoided spaces with new life.

Surrounding Him now, one by one,

they began to pay homage to His grandeur.

The critters nearby crept forth in a slow procession,

whilst the raven kept his quiet,

keeping a keen eye on the softly landing white doves.

.

‘Twas the perfect mourning for the painful,

exacting moments to spring forth and reclaim their royal birthrights.

The Crumbs Of Humility

Good-Friday

The bread was broken

Torn to shreds in memory

We all share the grief

.

Water turned to wine

The future turned on its head

The gods turned their backs

.

One cup was not passed

One man cried, but not in vain

The Son felt the weight

.

Choice-less awareness

Willingly allowing this

Nothing left to lose

.

Leave it all behind!

Thieves? No longer bothersome

Rust? Not a problem

.

Worldly matters cease

The Son can shine without you

But you without Him?
